HIGH STANDARDS, ASSESSMENT, ACCOUNTABILITY, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, and STUDENT SUCCESS

Our Core Beliefs

TERF believes that in order to deliver high quality education meeting the needs of all Texas school children, we must support these five principles:

High Standards for Students and Teachers

High academic achievement today = great jobs tomorrow. Texas students are graduating into an increasingly demanding workplace that requires they know more than the basics to succeed. Higher standards in both curriculum and testing guarantee that our students are learning more, not less.

Assessment of Students

It’s about raising the bar. Testing gives educators a fair and accurate gauge of student knowledge. It also provides a road map to better prepare them for college and the workplace.

Accountability of Schools

Education is not an elective. Providing students the education they deserve cannot take place without significant accountability measures that govern teachers, students, administrators and school boards. Through House/Senate Bill 3, Session 81, it is now the law.

Professional Development of Teachers

For students to achieve at a high level, teachers need to change and challenge. Learning is a lifelong process, and teachers cannot provide the most effective education without programs and classroom resources that focus on their development.

Student Success

Success in school = Success in life. Innovation, commitment and investment are the tools Texans must use to keep our students interested in learning and in the classroom.
